Our History
Treleigh Farm
Treleigh Farm is located in North Cornwall in hamlet of Treleigh, outside of Redruth.
North Cornwall was once an affluent tin and copper mining area and an example of some of the old mining stacks can be glimpsed in the distance beyond our paddocks.
Though Redruth in its hay day was a prime example of Victorian wealth and prosperity, times have moved on. However here in the Cornish countryside we have a vast array of different experiences we can encourage you to enjoy.
We love our home and the surrounding area and are passionate advocates of wildlife and the countryside. Planting trees and foliage and maintaining our small plot to encourage bird life, butterflies and other mammals. During your stay we will be more than happy to share our love of nature with you and introduce you to some of the wildlife that visit our land.
As our guests, this small family run business, aims to provide you with a relaxing environment in which to enjoy your holiday.
Gail Anselmi
Two years ago I moved 360 miles from one amazing coastline to another. Farthest east to farthest west. After years of travelling to the beautiful Cornish coast and countryside we took the plunge and secured ourselves a piece of Cornish heaven. I have been a practicing artist and tutor for the majority of my adult life and have always been inspired by nature and the surrounding countryside, and to swap the the idyllic views of Kent for Cornwall was not difficult, just even more inspiring.
Here in our little haven of 2 Acres surrounded by Cornish hedges, we are privileged to experience a wide range of animals and birds that include woodpeckers, long tailed tits, nuthatches, stoats, badgers, rabbits and a family or European buzzards that soar above us on the thermals.
Our large nature pond also attracts a wide range of wildlife, from dragonflies to wild mallard ducks, that have found a home with us and randomly march across our lawns.
The hedges and paddocks are an increasing source of fascination to both me and my dogs and as a large part of my work involves recreating detail and painting with accuracy, I am never short of subject matter. Additionally I am a trained art historian and like to utilise some of the natural plants and materials that can be found outside.
We have long term plans for our home and are very conscious of the environment and are currently planting 165 saplings to further encourage nature and wildlife. In the future we aim to provide artist workshops so that others can enjoy what we are privileged to enjoy on a daily basis.
